In the event of a public gathering hosted by Sourcegraph at one of our office locations, we should keep the following guidelines in mind and plan with a focus around these:
Before the event:
- Follow our clean-desk and electronics lockup policy to secure our and our customers’ data.
- Prepare an attendee list for the event.
- Assign employee volunteers tasks and areas to oversee during the event.
- Setup areas and electronics for public usage.
- Guest wifi should be an isolated network from employee wifi.
- If required, prep a clean laptop for presentation purposes only.
- Everyone in the hosting committee should be aware of the procedures in case of an emergency.
During the event:

-
Check in all attendees. If they are not on the list, have them sign-in. This will ensure we have a list of people in the office in case of an emergency.
-
Limit the attendees to the event area and do not allow them to roam freely around the employee desks.
- Provide attendees with visitor badges or name tags.
- Sourcegraph employees should be easily identifiable.
-
If you are working during the event, be aware of shoulder surfers.

- Be observant; if you see something suspicious, report it to the event organizer immediately.
- Do not share any information with the attendees unless authorized to do so. This includes wifi passwords, gate codes and keys to any areas.
- Only share the wifi details specified to be shared for the event or guest wifi.
After the event:
- If you see any unauthorized electronic devices plugged in around the office, immediately report it to security team as well as the event organizer.
And remember, Security starts with YOU!
