Purpose
At Sourcegraph, we prioritize security, efficiency, and a collaborative work environment. This Clean Desk Policy ensures we protect our intellectual property, maintain data privacy, and foster an organized workspace.
Scope
This policy is for all Sourcegraph teammates, contractors, and partners working in Sourcegraph’s physical office spaces, while traveling and working at customer offices.
Guidelines:
- Device Security: Lock your screen before stepping away. When not in use, store laptops and other equipment securely, especially when working in public or shared spaces.
- End of Day Routine: Clear all workspaces of sensitive materials, including notes, printouts, or devices containing Sourcegraph’s or client information. Store these in designated secure locations like a desk drawers with locks or lockers that are provided.

Device Security in Co-Working Spaces: When working in a co-working space, laptops and all other devices must be taken home at the end of each day to avoid security risks.

- Securing Sensitive Information: Physical and digital assets with sensitive or proprietary data should be securely stored when not in use and never left accessible on shared desks or screens.
- Communal and Meeting Spaces: Sensitive information should not be discussed in communal areas. If working on sensitive data in a shared space, use a privacy screen to ensure data confidentiality. Additionally, clear all whiteboards in designated workspaces and meeting rooms before leaving to prevent the exposure of confidential information
Exceptions
Requests for an exception to this policy must be submitted to the owner of this policy for approval and will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
Violations & Enforcement
Any known violations of this policy should be reported to [email protected]. Failure to follow this policy can result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
